Embroidery actually includes almost all
decorative handwork. The samples included here are textiles created using what we call
"embroidery thread" or "embroidery floss". |

For a Rose (24"x24"x1")
Suzi found this crumpled up pillow top
at a garage sale. After cleaning and quilting it, the beauty of the silk thread seems to
glow. The top was probably made in the early 1900’s. The "Suzi’s Hang
Art" method makes the piece come alive with a professional look. This piece has been seen by at least
50,000 people, during shows and programs. |

Hmong Country Life (18"x18"x1")
Suzi was hired on a grant from WSU to teach the Hmongs how to better represent their art
work with the "Suzi’s Hang Art" method. This is a beautiful hand
embroidered piece which was done in the refugee camp, and tells of their wonderful life
before the Viet Namese war. Suzi brings many of these pieces when she gives programs
throughout the nation.

Patty’s Church (14"x16"x1")
This was a gift which Suzi appliqued
onto the muslin and then quilted. This is a nice way to finish embroidery pieces which
have special meaning due to being passed down as family heirlooms. No borders were added
to this piece. How many pieces of embroidery do you have that could be quickly
finished in this "Do-it-Yourself" method? |
