"Suzi's Hang Art"

Embroidery

Embroidery actually includes almost all decorative handwork. The samples included here are textiles created using what we call "embroidery thread" or "embroidery floss".

Coral Bells    (12"x13"x1")
This is one of 40 unfinished embroidered quilt squares from the 1930’s. Suzi quilted and finished it with the "Suzi’s Hang Art" method. Any number of squares could be arranged in various layouts. This is a quick and economical way to finish quilt squares. All art pieces are sprayed with a stain resistant product.

For a Rose (24"x24"x1")
Suzi found this crumpled up pillow top at a garage sale. After cleaning and quilting it, the beauty of the silk thread seems to glow. The top was probably made in the early 1900’s. The "Suzi’s Hang Art" method makes the piece come alive with a professional look. This piece has been seen by at least 50,000 people, during shows and programs.

Guatemalan Frog
   (15"x22"x1")
This is a lovely rustic embroidered ethnic picture from Guatemala. Many cultures have handwork which can be finished and artistically displayed in the "Suzi's Hang Art" method. It took 30 minutes to complete this framing process. No borders were required for this piece.

Gulen Morgan
   (16"x18"x1")
Suzi was commissioned to finish this lovely linen handwork. It is a very treasured family heirloom and now can be displayed on the wall. It has a much greater chance of being passed on to future generations. It's as easy as 1-2-3-Done.

Hmong Country Life   (18"x18"x1")
Suzi was hired on a grant from WSU to teach the Hmongs how to better represent their art work with the "Suzi’s Hang Art" method. This is a beautiful hand embroidered piece which was done in the refugee camp, and tells of their wonderful life before the Viet Namese war. Suzi brings many of these pieces when she gives programs throughout the nation.

Patty’s Church    (14"x16"x1")
This was a gift which Suzi appliqued onto the muslin and then quilted. This is a nice way to finish embroidery pieces which have special meaning due to being passed down as family heirlooms. No borders were added to this piece.  How many pieces of embroidery do you have that could be quickly finished in this "Do-it-Yourself" method?
