The Great Wall (18"x25"x1")
This beautiful woven picture is a real collectors item. It is a Tientsen copy of the
original wall carpet. The "Suzi's Hang Art" method let's the textile come alive
as the greens of the mountains seem to shimmer. All of Suzi's art work is sprayed with a
stain resistant product. It's as easy a 1-2-3-Done.

Hmong Crazy in the Eye (16"x16"x1")
Suzi was hired on a grant from WSU to teach the Hmongs how to better represent their art
work with the "Suzi’s Hang Art" method. One Hmong woman, Youa Vang was
commissioned to create a similar piece, but 10"x10", and was paid $300. Our
culture will pay for what it values, and then it usually values what it has paid for.

Hmong Pandau (18"x18"x1")
This is another type of Hmong handwork - intricate reverse applique. This is a beautiful
hand-stitched piece which was done in the refugee camp. The finishing process takes less
than 30 minutes. Many countries, especially third world countries, have exquisite handwork
that has gone unvalued, often for lack of an appropriate display technique.

Hmong Cross Stitch - People (18"x24"x1")
Suzi purchased numerous pieces of Hmong handwork during the 1980's. We had two
Vietnamese foster teenagers in 1984. They also had spent time in a refugee camp but the
two nationalities are not friends. |

|
Mandarin Square (14"x14"x1")
These embroidered squares were worn on
the front and back of the Chinese surcoat which was a required item of wardrobe. The late
Mung pictorial pictures identified the official rank of the imperial court. The slim red
border unifies and contains the embroidered square. This was a gift from Suzi's dear friend
Billie Pierce.

|
Mola (16"x20"x1")
This garage sale find is a wonderful sample of the colorful reverse applique handwork done
by the San Blase Indians of Central America. Suzi added the black borders and finished it
in the "Suzi's Hang Art" method. This is an artistic and economical way of
finishing and displaying ethnic handwork from many cultures.

Peruvian Bikers (16"x16"x1")
This is a sample of "Suzi’s Hang Art" method, used to finish a piece from Peru. This was a gift to Suzi's dear friend and
inspiration Elaine who encouraged Suzi in her textile field, and introduced Suzi to her
second passion cycling (4000 miles in 1997). The framing method (as well as cycling) is as
easy as 1-2-3-Done. |
